TAG Heuer is galloping into the Year of the Fire Horse with a limited edition that’s equal parts art and engineering. The Carrera Chronograph Year of the Horse is limited to 250 pieces and priced at $8,150. On the dial, a warm gradient fades from deep crimson to champagne gold, symbolizing the energy of the Fire Horse. At 9 o’clock, the date window eschews numerals altogether, using the Chinese character “马” to mark the day. Rose‑gold plated hands and indexes stand out against the glassbox case’s domed sapphire crystal, while a red minute counter at 3 o’clock ties the theme together.

Under the hood, the watch is powered by TAG Heuer’s automatic Calibre TH20‑07 movement, based on the brand’s TH20‑00 with an extended 80‑hour power reserve. The 39mm stainless‑steel case is water‑resistant to 100m and features a transparent caseback engraved with a galloping horse. Each piece is individually numbered and mounted on a fine‑brushed stainless‑steel bracelet with a folding clasp. Deployant reports that the movement runs at 28,800 vph and features rose‑gold plated applied indexes filled with Super‑Luminova for nighttime legibility.

Collectors seeking a more subtle nod to the Lunar New Year will appreciate that the watch avoids overt zodiac graphics in favour of refined symbols. The combination of Swiss craftsmanship and Eastern symbolism sets this Carrera apart from typical commemorative editions.
