Upon its release in 1969, the TAG Heuer Monaco became the first water-resistant automatic chronograph Swiss wristwatch to sport a square shape. As the honorary chairman of TAG Heuer, Jack Heuer named this iconic timepiece after the Monaco Grand Prix. Its angular shape wasn’t the only thing that made this watch so special. According to him, its relatively large case, metallic blue dial, and left-positioned crown all constituted “a complete break from the aesthetic codes of traditional watchmaking.”
The new TAG Heuer x The Hour Glass Monaco reflects the rich history of the Heuer Monaco, promising to look as great on your wrist as the original Monaco timepiece looked on the wrists of American actor Steve McQueen and Swiss race driver Jo Siffert.
This watch features a Calibre 11 movement, sapphire crystal glass, and a red lacquered central hand. Its 39mm square case is composed of black PVD steel, which its perforated calfskin strap matches exactly.
