Jack Heuer, the great-grandson of Tag Heuer’s founder, is celebrating his 88th birthday in grand style with the release of a very special timepiece, the Tag Heuer Carrera Jack Heuer Birthday Limited Edition. The watch hails from the recently introduced Carrera Chronograph family, a somewhat dressier iteration of the motorsport-inspired original Carrera, which Jack Heuer himself famously created in 1963. Also, significantly, this new 42mm birthday edition marks the return of 18k rose gold to TAG Heuer’s modern collection.
The dial is a silver opaline, with applied rose gold-plated markers, logo, and hands. Providing contrast are two black/anthracite sunray registers at 9 and 3 o’clock. The 6 o’clock register with running seconds is the same color as the dial and sits on top of the dial rather than inside a sub-dial. At the center of the dial are the numerals ‘88’, but they cleverly appear as stylized infinity loops, “recalling Jack’s infinitely precious legacy to the brand.” Tag Heuer is producing only 188 units making this a very limited production run. Pre-orders are being taken now, with delivery anticipated in mid-March 2021.
