Sonos has spent years selling speakers as a system, but its compact soundbar and headphones have not always felt equally integrated. The new Beam Ultra and Ace Ultra close that gap by giving both products hardware designed around spatial audio and easier movement between rooms and listening modes.

Beam Ultra produces a true 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos layout from nine custom drivers, including two dedicated up-firing units. AI-assisted speech enhancement offers four dialogue levels, while compatible portable Sonos speakers can act as temporary surrounds.

That makes the smaller soundbar more flexible than a permanently wired rear-speaker setup without turning it into a full home-theater rack.

Ace Ultra uses new 40mm drivers, a revised acoustic platform, and Adaptive ANC built around ten microphones. Battery life reaches 35 hours with noise cancellation enabled. The larger change is Wi-Fi: through the Early Access Headphone Engine 2 feature, Ace Ultra can connect to a compatible speaker in the Sonos system after initial Wi-Fi and app setup. Once configured, playback can continue without keeping the phone in range.
Sonos opened preorders on September 1. Beam Ultra costs $699 and Ace Ultra is $449, with general availability scheduled for September 29.
