‘Sisu’: A John Wick-Like Finnish Action Film Set in Lapland During WWII

‘Sisu’ received a much-coveted 100% Rotten Tomatoes score.

Sisu is an upcoming Finnish action film directed by Jalmari Helander, set in Finnish Lapland during World War II. The trailer for Sisu shows a solitary prospector, Aatami Korpi, making an incredible gold discovery during the last desperate days of WWII. While on his way to deliver his gold to a bank over 500 miles away, he crosses paths with Nazis on a scorched-earth retreat in northern Finland. The film stars Jorma Tommila, Aksel Hennie, Jack Doolan, and Mimosa Willamo and is shot in Lapland. Sisu premiered at the Midnight Madness section of the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2022 and was released in Finland on January 27th, and will open in theaters in the United States on April 28th.
