German watchmaker, Sinn, will soon release its new diver watch, the Sinn U1 DS. Founded in 1961, Sinn is celebrating its 60th anniversary with the U1 DS representing the first in a series of timepieces to honor this milestone. The U1 DS keeps the overall design DNA of its predecessor intact, the Sinn U1, but does bring in a few noteworthy updates that change the visual appeal of the watch. To provide a hint, the DS in the watch title stands for the German word “Dekorschliff”, which loosely translates to “Decorative Cut.” The dial is etched and engraved which gives the watch a “distressed” look, while the fully tegimented case, bezel, and bracelet protect the watch from all forms of distress. And because each dial is individually engraved with a unique pattern in this limited edition of 500 pieces, no two watches are the same.
The Sinn U1 DS features a 44mm case made of German submarine steel which will withstand a variety of high-octane activities — on land or up to 1,000 meters beneath the ocean. It is equipped with a highly legible greyish black textured dial which manages to look different under changing lighting conditions. As far as the layout is concerned, the watch sports LEGO-style hands and markers, a printed minute track, and a date window at 3 o’clock. This robust timepiece comes with a white or black rubber strap or the traditional H link bracelet.
