This week, Seiko announced the new King Seiko Collection, featuring five watches inspired by the classic 1960s King Seiko. The centerpiece in the collection echoes the original 1965 KSK’s silver tone. Each timepiece features the same case with a different dial color, including light gray, charcoal gray, brown, and red. While the light gray dial has a classic hairline pattern, the other four watches boast a dial with a sunray finish. Precision and grace are the hallmarks of the King Seiko Collection. Seiko says they combined the lasting design values of 1965 with today’s technology and engineering. For example, each watch in the King Seiko Collection shares the sharp and angular design inspired by the 1965 KSK. Additionally, the bracelet is a nod to the original King Seiko’s beveled bracelet complete with light-reflecting surfaces.
The watches’ flat dial with faceted indexes and broad, razor-edged hands creates a stunning modern profile. What’s more, the faceted lugs with sharp angles and broad flat surfaces highlight the precision in each watch’s finish. The King Seiko Collection combines beauty with function, featuring a twelve o’clock index over twice as wide as the others. Seiko says the index’s patterned texture and an anti-reflective coating on the inner surface of the crystal ensure high legibility. Plus, the watches are water-resistant to 100 meters.
