Virtual reality technology has been slow to capture a large consumer base until recently, but as the devices become lighter and more powerful, their potential has become clear. The new Samsung Android XR headset presents a vividly realized mixed reality that could be a game-changer for integrating cutting-edge graphics into real-world environments.

The Samsung Android XR headset, developed under the name Project Moohan, is a direct competitor to the Apple Vision Pro, offering a single platform that blends augmented and virtual reality. Running on the Android XR, the headset made its debut at the prestigious Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit in September 2025.

There has been significant buzz and plenty of speculation since the Samsung Android XR headset was unveiled. It’s expected that the device will utilize Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon XR2 chipset, although details about specs and performance capabilities are scarce.

While the included apps for the Samsung Android XR headset have yet to be announced, the use of Android XR suggests a broad mix of AR and VR software will be available at launch. Such apps will allow users to place virtual objects in their environment, with a wide range of potential applications.

More information about the specs and launch details for the Samsung Android XR headset will be announced at the upcoming Worlds Wide Open virtual event on October 21st, 2025. In the meantime, you can sign up to get a notification (and a $100 credit if you end up buying one).
