Rotel has entered the headphone amplifier game with the new DX-3, delivering a triple threat as a DAC, Bluetooth receiver, and preamplifier. As the brand’s first standalone headphone amp, the DX-3 combines audiophile-grade performance with a compact, desktop-friendly design, measuring just 7.6cm x 21.5cm x 24.7cm.

Built to be the ultimate desktop audio companion, the Rotel DX-3 features an ESS Sabre ES9028PRO eight-channel DAC, supporting hi-res audio up to 32-bit/384kHz and DSD256. With USB, coaxial, and optical inputs, the DX-3 natively plays 24-bit/192kHz files. It also offers Bluetooth connectivity with aptX HD for high-quality wireless streaming. The DX-3 supports a range of headphones, offering 6.3mm and 4.4mm balanced connectors and an adjustable gain to match your cans’ impedance.
As a preamplifier, the DX-3 Headphone Amplifier delivers versatile output options with balanced XLR and stereo RCA analogue connections, making it a seamless addition to any hi-fi setup. The custom-engineered low-pass filters, balanced signal path, and isolated power supplies reduce noise and distortion, ensuring an immersive soundstage with ultimate resolution, rhythm, and timing.
Finished with a full-color display and a knurled volume control with precise 0.5dB increments, the Rotel DX-3 Headphone Amplifier performs well and looks the part. Available in silver and black, this $1499 headphone amplifier launches in the UK and Europe in March, with global availability to follow soon.
