Ressence has returned to Dubai Watch Week with a standout release that blends the brand’s signature futuristic design language with an unexpectedly warm, luxurious palette. The new Type 1 Round Rose Gold (Type 1 RG) is a 70-piece limited edition crafted exclusively for Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, underscoring the Belgian brand’s long-running creative partnership with the UAE’s premier watch retailer. Building on a history of region-specific pieces—including the Type 1 DXB, DX2, DX3, and Type 9 S75—this latest edition embraces refinement over ornamentation, leaning into minimalist elegance and technical ingenuity.
The Type 1 Round RG features Ressence’s signature pebble-shaped case, rendered here in lightweight titanium with a harmonious blend of brushed, polished, and sandblasted finishing. Measuring 42.7mm across and just 11mm thick, the ergonomic form wears smaller than its numbers suggest, aided by wire lugs and a double-domed sapphire crystal that enhances its organic profile.
But the real highlight is the rose gold-plated German silver dial—a rich, copper-toned surface with a sunray pattern that plays with warm light. Contrasting silver-framed discs display the hours, seconds, and days of the week using the brand’s patented ROCS 1.3 orbital time-display system powered by a modified ETA 2892 movement. Super-LumiNova fills every engraved index, including two green-lumed markers that add subtle contrast.
As with all Ressence watches, there’s no crown; a retractable lever on the caseback manages winding and setting. Paired with a light grey suede strap, the Type 1 RG feels simultaneously modern, sculptural, and quietly luxurious. Limited to 70 pieces, the price is $23,200.
