The POWERUP 4.0 is a conversion kit for paper airplanes. With the POWERUP 4.0, you can turn a simple paper, balsa wood, or cardboard airplane into a fully functioning RC airplane. With an onboard flight controller, gyro, and accelerometer, you can control the path for each flight from a smartphone. The POWERUP 4.0 lets you fly by sensors that control the autopilot and stabilization software, thereby avoiding unintended stalls, spirals or nosedives.
The technology lets the airplane recover from any launch mode and perform even in windy conditions. By simply installing a smartphone app and connecting via Bluetooth the user is able to control the speed of the two propellers by managing the throttle on the phone screen. The POWERUP 4.0 works with both iOS and Android devices equipped with Bluetooth 4.0 and a gyro. The kit includes a spare propeller and spare paper template. A spare-parts kit with propellers, cross-bar, bumper, front clip and wheels will be sold separately. At just 0.67 ounces, the POWERUP 4.0 does not need to be registered with the FAA.
