The arrival of the fall season and winter looming on the horizon mean it’s time to overhaul the wardrobe to meet colder weather demands. The clothing brand Outerknown has stepped up with the new Seafarer sweater, which delivers warmth, comfort, and style with a touch of classic design that has withstood the test of time.
Building on an extensive selection of sweaters, sweatshirts, pants, and other clothing items, the Outerknown Seafarer Sweater continues the brand’s dedication to high-quality manufacturing with the best available materials. It takes its cue from the classic fisherman’s sweaters of yesteryear, incorporating a design that has been fashionable among seafarers since the late 1900s.
Initially knitted for fishermen operating out of the Irish islands of Aran, the intricately patterned design was intended to introduce additional layers to keep fishermen warm whilst working in harsh weather conditions. The Outerknown Seafarer Sweater replicates this style, with interweaving patterns running down the length of the item, in keeping with the clothing worn by seafaring captains and residents of the coastal community.
Updated for the modern consumer, the Outerknown Seafarer is made with a lofty blend of recycled wool and organic cotton spun, sorted, and recycled in Italy. Finished with additional ribbed details on the hem, neckline, and sleeve and available in an off-white salt color, it’s a fitting homage to the fisherman’s perennial sweater, which is guaranteed to keep the wearer warm and cozy throughout the winter months.
