A square watch can feel severe; the right amount of empty space makes it precise instead. NOMOS Glashütte has returned to its compact Tetra with two permanent models that use restraint to soften the geometry.

The Tetra 27 White pairs a silver-plated white dial with blued hands and a small-seconds register. The Tetra 27 Duo removes the seconds display entirely, setting two central hands against concentric white and gray fields. Both polished steel cases measure 27.5mm square, with a slim profile of roughly 6mm and 50 meters of water resistance.

Hand-wound DUW 4001-family movements provide a 53-hour power reserve and include the manufacture’s in-house Swing System escapement. A black Horween Shell Cordovan strap keeps the palette formal without making the scale precious.
The result extends the logic of modern German design watches beyond the familiar round case: typography, line weight, and negative space do the expressive work. The White model offers either a solid or sapphire back, while the Duo’s reduced dial makes the lower price feel like a design decision rather than an omission.
Both models are part of the permanent NOMOS collection and are available now. The Tetra 27 White costs $2,400; the Tetra 27 Duo is priced at $2,090.
