Nike’s decades‑long relationship with Japanese designer Hiroshi Fujiwara continues with a new trio of collaborative sneakers under the Fragment Concept Testing initiative. Revealed on March 12, the project sees Fujiwara apply his minimalist design language to three silhouettes: the Air Liquid Max, Mind 001 and Mind 002.

Each shoe is finished predominantly in black with Fragment branding on the lateral upper, while pops of blue call out the neuroscience‑inspired foam nodes on the Mind series. The Air Liquid Max retains the bold, visible ‘liquid’ cushioning concept that debuted earlier this week, but Fujiwara’s interpretation wears an austere triple‑black palette and subtle Fragment callouts.

The Mind 001 mule—already unconventional in its blend of clog and sneaker—receives a sleek black upper with contrasting blue pods along the heel and outsole.

For the Mind 002, Fujiwara replaced the standard materials with an entirely new textile that changes the shoe’s character; the familiar blue nodes remain as a nod to the original. Fujiwara notes that he approached the design ‘experimentally,’ asking what would happen if existing materials were swapped for something unexpected.

Release dates are staggered. The Mind 001 and Mind 002 will release exclusively at Fragment retail locations on March 14 before receiving a global drop through Nike’s SNKRS app and select retailers on March 19. The Air Liquid Max will be available at Fragment on March 31 with a global release on April 3.
These launches build on Fujiwara’s storied collaborations with Nike, which include contributions to the HTM collective and iconic takes on the Air Jordan 1 and Air Force 1. For fans of conceptual footwear, the Fragment Concept Testing series delivers a refined study in restraint without sacrificing Nike innovation.
