First introduced to the general public at the height of the 1972 Olympics, demand for the Nike Cortez skyrocketed after the public noticed that the pairs were being worn by Team USA. It’s widely recognized that the success of the Cortez line created the foundation for the multi-billion dollar corporation of what Nike is today. As such, the sneaker has been redesigned numerous times over the past 43 years, and it’s coming back this spring with a brown colorway that’s more of a fashion statement than a track shoe. Nike’s new Classic Cortez SP features an embroidered Swoosh that’s protruding like a side airbag, a corduroy hind panel, suede striping around the toe box and an additional white Swoosh branding on the front side panel. Release dates are yet to be confirmed, but you can expect to see the Nike Classic Cortez SP very soon.
