In 2017, pro golfer Brooks Koepka asked Nike to design a running shoe for him that he could wear while playing golf. Nike delivered and then some with the new Zoom Infinity Tour Shield, a technology-packed athletic shoe that has been adapted for golf. While it has a great look, the most important elements are traction that comes from the unique outsole design and the impressive stability in a reasonably lightweight package.
This soon-to-be released shoe is a winter-ready golf shoe that enables golfers to play comfortably later into the season. It has a built-in water-repellent shroud, waterproof overlays, and a rubberized mudguard to help keep wetness out. Ergonomic zippers and a bungee closure make it easy to get on and off while wearing gloves. A full-length Zoom Air unit stitched directly to the upper, as well as smaller units in the heel and forefoot, provide responsive cushioning. The big talking point is the sole, which has three oversized cleats that are part of the molded sole and are not removable. A very large one on the heel and two slightly smaller ones on the balls of the foot that are designed to support weight transfer and, in theory, boost swing speeds. The Nike Zoom Infinity Tour Shield will be available in five color combinations.
