A faithful reissue is most convincing when the old idea survives a few modern corrections. The Mühle-Glashütte Marinefliegeruhr-I Edition 2026 revisits one of the watches in the German maker’s first 1996 wristwatch collection with a cleaner 40mm case and a view of the machinery that the original kept hidden.

The dark blue dial preserves the large luminous Arabic numerals, lance-shaped hands, date window, and tachymeter scale of the early pilot model. Green-yellow Super-LumiNova and a blue leather strap with pale contrast stitching reinforce the period character without resorting to artificial aging. The matte stainless-steel case measures 10mm thick and 45.5mm lug to lug, compact dimensions for an aviation-derived watch.

A sapphire crystal covers the front, while a new sapphire display back reveals the automatic Sellita SW200-1 in Mühle specification. The brand’s woodpecker-neck regulation adds shock resistance and fine adjustment; a special “Three Decades of Wristwatches” rotor marks the anniversary. The 41-hour movement offers hacking seconds and quick-set date, and the case is water resistant to 10 bar. Compared with many limited pilot watches, the proportions are the point rather than an exercise in simulated cockpit scale.

Mühle-Glashütte will make 300 examples. The watch costs €1,996 including German VAT and is listed with a four-week delivery estimate.
