As part of the Sony Venom-verse, the new Morbius Teaser Trailer gives the first glimpse of Jared Leto flexing his acting chops in the titular role of the Marvel antihero. It is by all accounts, a return to Leto’s gothic roots, as the trailer introduces audiences to Morbius — a living vampire — based on the Marvel comics Spider-Man villain. Dr. Michael Morbius is a Nobel-prize winning doctor who has a rare blood condition that he must cure in order to keep living. Though trouble begins when he accidentally turns himself into a vampire, with bat-like attributes and a thirst for blood.
Though the trailer makes it known that this film is made in association with Marvel, it does promote Marvel Studios’ most recent Spider-Man films such as Venom. Likewise, viewers will be surprised with a last-minute appearance from Michael Keaton, questioning whether this signals a reprisal of his role as Vulture from Spider-Man Homecoming.
