British fragrance house Molton Brown has returned to its roots with a fragrance inspired by Japanese tea rituals. The new Tea Ceremony collection – comprising a 100 ml eau de parfum, a 7.5 ml travel spray and a 300 ml bath and shower gel – debuts February 18 in global travel retail at London Heathrow before rolling out to select domestic markets.

Created by senior perfumer Mathieu Nardin, the unisex scent is described as a woody‑green composition blending earthy matcha, crisp green tea, nashi pear and amberwood. It marks Molton Brown’s first woody fragrance since 2019 and reflects a growing interest in wellness‑led perfume.

The launch will be supported by a month‑long Contentainment campaign at Heathrow in partnership with travel retailer Avolta, followed by “Must Have Tables” placements at Heathrow and Stansted in early April. Simon James, the brand’s UK general manager, notes that Tea Ceremony is designed to offer travellers a moment of calm amid the noise of travel. The composition opens with the mild sweetness of pear, segueing into herbal matcha and green tea notes before drying down to a warm amberwood base.

By drawing on tea ingredients associated with mindful self‑care, Molton Brown hopes to connect with travellers seeking balance and sensory richness. Tea Ceremony is also a signpost for the brand’s broader commitment to wellbeing across its product line.
