MING has officially closed the book on its celebrated 37-series moonphase with the launch of the 37.05 Lunatic—and it’s a fitting finale. The Lunatic isn’t just another moonphase complication; it’s a futuristic, space-inspired reimagining of one of watchmaking’s oldest poetic functions. Where many moonphases lean toward the traditional and dressy, MING takes a bold leap forward with luminous innovation, sci-fi design language, and a cosmic-worthy personality.

The watch features a partially transparent sapphire dial with a special metallisation treatment, revealing hidden details of the movement while shifting dramatically depending on light. The dial can transform from deep black to reflective silver, embodying MING’s signature inversion effect. A re-engineered moonphase sits prominently on the upper half, glowing with MING’s proprietary Polar White lume, which is also featured on the minimalist hour indices.

Inside beats the Sellita for MING SW288.M1, boasting skeletonized bridges, matte-blasted finishes, and a silicon tourbillon escapement. The manual-winding caliber offers a seven-day power reserve, displayed through a cleverly designed three-arc indicator at 4 o’clock. At the bottom sits a constant-force tourbillon, while a large double barrel crowns the top.

Encased in a stainless steel 38mm x 11.9mm case, paired with a white FKM rubber strap, the Lunatic is equal parts wearable and otherworldly. The watch is limited to 100 pieces and is priced at $6,633.

The Lunatic isn’t just a watch—it’s a closing statement. MING’s farewell to the 37-series is a reminder that watchmaking can be both refined and radical, classic yet boundary-pushing.
