Remember those hours spent building LEGO creations? Mattel, the minds behind Hot Wheels, wants a piece of that action with its brand new Brick Shop. And they’re not just playing around. Recognizing the booming adult LEGO market (and the appreciating value of those plastic bricks), Mattel is diving headfirst into the buildable car scene.

The Brick Shop will focus on what they know best: cars. Each kit comes with a matching 1:64-scale Hot Wheels vehicle and extra parts for customization. They’re rolling out three levels of complexity, from the 250-300 piece Speed Series (think LEGO Speed Champions) featuring rides like a Cadillac GTP and a ’68 Camaro, to the more intricate 850-925 piece Elite Series with a Corvette Grand Sport and an Acura NSX. The top-tier Premium Series will launch with a stunning 1,600-piece 1:12-scale Mercedes 300 SL with those iconic gullwing doors.

What sets these apart from LEGO or even Mattel’s Mega Bloks? Improved brick fit (no more easy kid-pull-apart!), better instructions, and the kicker: metal parts. Plus, the Brick Shop designs lean into more unique automotive shapes. And the price? Slightly lower than comparable LEGO sets. Expect to see these hit shelves this summer. Get ready to unleash your inner builder with a Hot Wheels twist.
