Marathon Watch Company has partnered with J.Crew for a new take on Marathon’s Pilot Navigator’s Date watch. The pandemic hit J.Crew hard early on in 2020, but the company is out to prove it was only down, not out. With a handsome new product like this new watch, the Marathon Watch Company x J.Crew Pilot’s Navigator Date, it appears that the brand is headed in the right direction. While the traditional version of this Pilot Navigator’s Date watch features easy-to-read numerals (and the corresponding hour in military time) on the dial, J.Crew traded those out for diver-style dots and batons. That choice goes a long way toward matching modern preferences. The case is made of lightweight fibershell and is designed to be resistant to both sweat and shocks.
The J.Crew version of the Pilot’s Navigator Date provides visibility in low light or dim environments thanks to the self-contained tritium gas tubes that ensure wearers can see the dial no matter the light. Much like the other extremely rugged offerings by Marathon, this collaborative effort successfully combines military durability with Swiss engineering. J.Crew lends its touch to the watch by incorporating a blue-and-gray nylon strap along with adding the J.Crew emblem, etching it into the 316L parkerized steel crown. The watch meets mil-spec requirements and is powered by a Swiss-made, high-torque, three jewel ETA F06 quartz movement.
