Home theater receivers often age through their ports before their amplifiers. The Marantz CINEMA 50 Series 2 addresses both, pairing updated digital architecture with nine channels of amplification rated at 110 watts per channel into 8 ohms with two channels driven.

Positioned as the flagship of the new Series 2 receiver range, the CINEMA 50 Series 2 processes up to 11.4 channels and provides four independently controlled subwoofer outputs. Its new 32-bit, eight-channel DAC architecture performs simultaneous high-resolution conversion across the channels, while Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, IMAX Enhanced, and Auro-3D cover the principal immersive formats.

Two features distinguish it from the less expensive Series 2 models. Dolby Atmos Channel Expander uses every available speaker when playing channel-based Atmos content, including height channels that might otherwise remain idle. Center Bi-Amp Mode dedicates separate amplifier channels to the high- and low-frequency sections of a compatible center speaker, giving dialogue-focused systems another configuration option. Audyssey MultEQ XT32 comes standard, while Dirac Live Room Correction, Bass Control, and Active Room Treatment require separate licenses.

All six HDMI inputs support 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz passthrough. Gaming features include 1440p passthrough, variable refresh rate, quick frame transport, auto low-latency mode, and AMD FreeSync compatibility on three inputs. HEOS supplies multiroom streaming, with low-latency Bluetooth LE Audio planned through a future firmware update. A black finish, symmetrical fascia, and porthole OLED display maintain the visual language of recent Marantz home-theater separates.

Marantz prices the CINEMA 50 Series 2 at $3,000, with U.S. availability beginning August 12, 2026.
