Leica has expanded its revered Q-series by introducing the Q3 43, a compact full-frame camera designed for photographers seeking a natural perspective. Swapping the previous model’s 28mm lens for an APO-Summicron 43mm f/2 ASPH, the Q3 43 delivers enhanced portrait and street photography capabilities with stunning image quality.
The new 43 mm lens is known for its minimal chromatic aberration and distortion. It offers a smooth bokeh effect, making it perfect for shallow depth-of-field shots. Despite the lens change, the camera retains key features such as optical image stabilization, a quiet leaf shutter, and macro mode.
Leica’s Q3 43 allows users to digitally zoom from 43mm to 150mm, broadening its versatility. Photographers can also leverage Leica’s signature “Leica Looks” to capture images with an analog-inspired aesthetic, while easy connectivity through the Leica FOTOS app ensures seamless sharing.
Internally, the Q3 43 is powered by the same 60MP BSI CMOS sensor and fast hybrid autofocus as the original Q3, offering ISO 50-100,000 sensitivity and 8K video recording.
New additions include RODE microphone support via USB-C and wireless compatibility with iPhone for a streamlined workflow. Priced at $6,895, the Q3 43 promises to maintain Leica’s legacy of precision with a lens ideally suited for everyday photography.
