Leica has had an impressive run of new product launches and collaborations in 2024, culminating in the latest release, the Leica M Edition 70, a limited edition camera that celebrates the brand’s seventy years of development of the M-System. A key milestone in Leica’s history and technological evolution, it’s a welcome update on the rangefinder system they pioneered in 1954.
Launched alongside other commemorative releases for the anniversary, the Leica M Edition 70 will be available in just 250 sets worldwide and has a suitably high price tag. Combining the original release’s classic style and chunky ergonomics, it’s packed with cutting-edge technology under the hood that reflects the brand’s dedication to quality performance.
When one of the limited edition releases arrives in early 2025, customers will receive a selection of accessories, including a Leica M-A, the Leicavit M fast winder, an impressive APO-Summicron M 40 f/2 ASPH lens, and a film container complete with a roll of film. The camera, which has a stylish platinum-plated finish, is also set to be made available in black-painted, glossy black-painted, and silver-chromed finishes.
To complement the launch of this sought-after limited edition, Leica is also releasing the Leica M book, which explores the evolution of the M-System and provides extensive background details for photographers who want to learn more about the camera. An anniversary exhibition will also be held at Leica Camera AG’s headquarters in Wetzlar, Germany, on November 6th, 2024.
