LEGO announced earlier in 2019 that it would begin releasing sets made up of recycled and plant-based “plastics” in order to reduce its reliance on conventional oil-based alternatives. However, it hasn’t stopped there. The company just announced a first— the LEGO Wooden Minifigure. The toy is exactly what the name suggests. It has the standard look and design of a traditional LEGO figure, only it is made completely of wood. It is a 5:1 upscaled design of the classic LEGO figure, so it is 5 times larger than what you get out of the box sets. It’s also a naked wood, allowing you to paint, color, or make your own customizations.
The minifigure is handmade and uses only FSC-certified oak, although it does use fully adjustable plastic LEGO hands. The figure comes in a premium gift box, which makes it the perfect gift for a birthday or the holiday season.
