Late in Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals with the score tied, LeBron James chased down the Warriors’ Andre Iguodala for a remarkable block. The Warriors never scored again. It was James’s hustle, will, and drive that inspired designer John Elliott, resulting in the LeBron James x John Elliott Icon for Nike. Elliott imagined James walking through the tunnel at the start of the game, wearing shoes that made him feel at his best as all eyes turned to him.
The classic black colorway is the first of three to drop. Elliott took the full-length Nike Air tooling and midsole armament of his favorite James shoe, the Lebron 8, and added a translucent upper with court-influenced embroidery throughout. The shoe features classic gum bottoms and taped components from the heel wrap to the profile.
