Fans the world over were devastated in 2016 when Land Rover announced that they would no longer be producing their classic Defender model. Luckily, this didn’t include the production of any special edition models. Thus we’re significantly pleased to witness the release of the Land Rover Defender Works V8.
This limited edition model is intended to celebrate Land Rover’s 70th anniversary all while paying homage to the brand’s early V8 engine models. This Defender’s 5.0-liter V8 engine roars with 400 hp and 380 ft-lbs of torque. The powerful engine is mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox with sport mode. The combination propels the vehicle from zero to 60mph in just 5.6 seconds, while it tops out at 106 mph. To handle this added performance, the vehicle also features updated brakes, improved springs, dampers, and anti-roll bars for more efficient handling.
The Defender Works V8 comes in eight different colors including two satin finishes that are perfectly paired with the vehicle’s Santorini Black roof, front grille, and wheel arches. Each model also has machined aluminum door handles, a fuel-filler cap, and LED lighting upgrade, and the iconic Defender lettering on the hood.
