For those that have been fans of Lamborghini long enough should remember that Lamborghini experimented with the LM002, an off-road capable SUV that was a departure from the kind of high-performance vehicles that Lamborghini is known for today.
It took them a while to get back into the game, but Lamborghini re-enters the SUV market with their latest vehicle, the Lamborghini Urus.
Much more sleek and modern than the Hummer-like LM002, the Urus’ design fits in nicely with its current line-up of cars, which includes the Aventador and Huracan. Although the vehicle’s proportions and additional set of rear-doors clearly set it off as an SUV, it’s a design that works rather well wearing Lamborghini’s angular design language.
Not only does the Urus carry on Lamborghini’s stunning design flair, with 641-hp and 627 ft-lbs or torque from the 4.0-liter turbo V8 engine, this SUV should move like no other SUV on the road. Zero to 62 happens in just 3.6 seconds, while hitting a top speed of 190 mph.
All that power is sent to all four wheels via an electro-hydraulically controlled 8-speed automatic transmission. The power is normally split 40/60 between the front and rear wheels, but can also send a 70% or torque to the front or 87% to the rear. The vehicle will also come equipped with six drive modes — Strada, Sport, Corsa, Neve (snow), Terra (off-road), Sabbia (sand), and a customizable mode called Ego.
First customer orders will hit the roads Spring of 2018, with prices starting from $200,000.
