Krayon has built its identity around a poetic calculation: the exact moment daylight begins and ends at a chosen place. The Krayon Parhelion watch gives that quiet astronomical idea an emphatically bright exterior. Its 42mm case is made from a high-palladium white-gold alloy and set with 159 baguette-cut sapphires, shifting from white to blue around the case, lugs, and bezel. Another 35 sapphires sit in the pin buckle. Subtle it is not, but the stones follow the complication’s subject rather than functioning as unrelated ornament.

The name refers to a parhelion, or sun dog, an optical phenomenon that can place bright mock suns beside the real one. Krayon’s interpretation was inspired by a trip to Greenland. A blue mother-of-pearl dial sits beneath 11 white, Y-shaped diamond hour markers, while the sapphire above 12 o’clock uses a new Y-shaped “Krayon Cut.” Light is treated as both information and material.

Under the gem setting is the architecture of the Krayon Anywhere. A peripheral 24-hour ring divides day from night, and the boundaries indicate local sunrise and sunset as the seasons change. The date and month share a display at 6 o’clock. The chosen latitude and longitude are configured when the watch is ordered; a watchmaker can recalibrate the location later, but this is not a travel watch that changes cities at the push of a button.

The hand-wound C030 caliber measures 35.4mm by 5mm, runs at 21,600 vibrations per hour, and stores 72 hours of power. Despite the complexity, the case remains 9.5mm thick. Water resistance is 30 meters, and a dark blue alligator strap keeps the palette coherent. The price is CHF 430,000. Production is not formally limited, though the setting and movement ensure inherently small numbers.

Parhelion arrives in the same rarefied territory as the Patek Philippe Celestial Sunrise & Sunset 6105G, yet the two solve the visual problem differently. Patek frames the sky as an instrument panel; Krayon turns the edge of daylight into jewelry. The result is maximalist, but its design logic remains unusually exact.
