Kentucky’s Peerless Distilling Company has launched its summer range of spirits with a new approach to developing rich flavors through a process using two separate oak barrels for the aging process. The result is the Kentucky Peerless Toasted Rye, an exciting new release that promises to delight the palates of discerning whiskey aficionados.

During the first aging pass, the Kentucky Peerless Toasted Rye utilizes the distillery’s standard, char level 3, barrel. This delivers the foundational flavors, including caramel, toffee, and brown sugar, that lend the whiskey a characteristically rich and sweet taste.

Following this stage, the Kentucky Peerless Toasted Rye is then transferred to a toasted barrel for finishing, a process that enhances its flavor profile. Here, hints of honey and vanilla are complemented with toasted spices and chocolate, bringing the whiskey’s body to life.

Each barrel used in the finishing process has been hand-selected by the expert distillers at Kentucky Peerless Distilling Company, who manage tannin levels to ensure a balanced and aromatic result. The entire process draws on technical expertise and craftsmanship, from the balance of ingredients to traditional cooperage techniques.

The result is a complex yet balanced whiskey that reflects the combined experience of five generations of award-winning bourbon makers. If you’re eager to learn more about the making of the Kentucky Peerless Toasted Rye, the distillery in downtown Louisville is open to visitors through their reservations service.
