Kalmar Automotive has introduced the world to the Kalmar 9X9, daringly described as the “world’s first retro hypercar.” Unveiled at The Quail during Monterey Car Week 2024, the Kalmar 9X9 is a modern-day tribute to the greatest sports cars of the past, reimagined with cutting-edge technology and performance. This debut marks Kalmar’s entrance into the U.S. market, showcasing their unique approach to coachbuilding, which they call “Automotive haute couture.”
The Kalmar 9X9 is powered by a 3.8L turbo engine producing an astonishing 930 horsepower, paired with a sophisticated double-clutch transmission and an advanced all-wheel-drive system. With a 0-60 time that rivals modern supercars, this hypercar also features adaptive suspension and rear-wheel steering, ensuring it handles with precision and agility. The entire 9X9 body is crafted from carbon fiber, weighing less than 100 kg, contributing to its remarkable performance.
Designed for true driving enthusiasts, the Kalmar 9X9 combines analog and digital elements in its minimalist interior, focusing on the pure joy of driving. The car is offered in three configurations—9X9, 9X9 Sport, and 9X9 Leichtbau—each tailored to provide a distinct driving experience, from grand touring to a lightweight purist’s dream.
Kalmar Automotive’s commitment to innovation and quality is evident in every detail of the 9X9, from its bespoke titanium brake calipers to its meticulously engineered suspension system. Each 9X9 is custom-built to the owner’s specifications, ensuring that no two cars are alike. Deliveries are set to begin in July 2025, with orders now available through the exclusive U.S. dealer, Canepa Group, Inc.
