Beneath the surface of JBL’s new Live 780NC and 680NC headphones lies a concerted push toward personalized sound and comfort. Unveiled during the opening days of SXSW 2026, the duo brings the brand’s True Adaptive Noise Cancelling 2.0 to an over‑ear (780NC) and on‑ear (680NC) form factor.

Each model uses 40 mm dynamic drivers, and two beamforming microphones work with JBL’s Personi‑Fi 3.0 technology to calibrate playback to the listener’s hearing profile via the JBL Headphones app. The 780NC features an aluminum hinge and a lightweight headband with memory‑foam ear cushions, while the 680NC uses a similarly foldable design to streamline travel.

Available in black, blue or light blue, both models offer multipoint Bluetooth for seamless switching between devices and a claimed 50 hours of playback with noise cancelling activated. The new True Adaptive Noise Cancelling system monitors external sound and user‑input, adjusting in real time to maintain clarity at low volumes.

When you remove the headphones, Smart Pause automatically stops playback and resumes when you put them back on. Once battery life runs low, JBL’s Speed Charge yields four hours of playback from a 15‑minute top‑off.

While the Live 780NC and 680NC have been designed with commuters and remote workers in mind, they still support JBL’s signature bass‑forward tuning with improved detail across the midrange. Orders open March 12 and shipping begins March 15. Pricing is set at $249.95 for the flagship Live 780NC and $159.95 for the Live 680NC.

For those who prefer a bespoke sound experience, the Personi‑Fi 3.0 platform offers additional tuning options through the JBL Headphones app.
