Two iconic brands in Portland, Oregon are currently dropping the fruits of their fits-like-a-glove collaboration. The James° × DDC Draplin Capsule Collection sees the Rose City’s stylish EDC knife- and toolmaker, The James Brand (TJB), joining forces with a downright legendary name in graphic design: the one and only Aaron James Draplin of Draplin Design Co. (DDC). Draplin’s turned out a dizzying array of logos and more for everybody from the Sasquatch Music Festival and Sub Pop Records to Nike and the Obama Administration and is also well known as the co-founder of the Field Notes line of high-quality, snazzily put-together notebooks and notepads. He’s also been a fan of The James Brand since the company’s launch in 2012 and serves as one of its official Ambassadors.
The James° × DDC Draplin Capsule Collection—currently being released a day at a time at “high noon” Pacific Time—includes a clutch of 14, orange-heavy limited-edition goodies, among them hats, t-shirts, patches, a sticker pack (with a straight-shooting “Buddies Making Cool Stuff” theme), a playful knife-safety poster (“Always Cut Away From Yourself”) prominently featuring Draplin’s mug, and an orange-and-black model of the Folsom, one of The James Brand’s signature pocketknives. Appropriately enough, the Capsule Collection also boasts a limited-release Field Notes pack celebrating this natural TJB x DDC team-up.
