A legend in the art and science of horology, Kurt Klaus first introduced his unique perpetual calendar in the IWC line of the 1980s. Over 30 years later, this incredible timekeeping mechanism still sets an incredibly high benchmark for elegant simplicity and technical know-how in the world of fine watchmaking.
Since the early 1990s, IWC has been creating luxury platinum versions of its watches. The latest platinum edition to incorporate the Klaus’s perpetual calendar mechanism is the IWC Portugieser Perpetual Calendar. Like all perpetual calendar models, this watch is finely engineered to track days, date, month, and moon phases for both hemispheres, with no need for a reset before the year 2100. The beautifully displayed in-house IWC 52615 automatic movement is complemented by the 7-day power reserve, so you won’t have to reset the whole calendar if you take it off your wrist for a few days. The case measures 44.2mm across, and the black alligator strap by the renowned leather product manufacturer Santoni furthers the Portugieser Perpetual Calendar’s theme of refined ruggedness.
