IWC Schaffhausen recently unveiled its IWC Portofino Chronograph 39 Edition “Laureus Sport for Good”. This limited-edition timepiece features a chronograph function with minutes and seconds, central hacking seconds, a sleek 39 mm diameter stainless steel case, and the winning entry from IWC’s annual drawing competition engraved on the case’s back. A black calfskin strap offsets the drawing/engraving of hands united together as equals. The IWC Portofino Chronograph marks IWC Schaffhausen’s 16th special edition watch in collaboration with the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. The collaboration is a testament to the Laureus Sport for Good program that empowers and inspires young people to drive change and promote tolerance, gender equality, and community spirit through sports and education.
The IWC Portofino Chronograph 39 Edition “Laureus Sport for Good” has a convex Sapphire glass with a wafer-thin layer of anti-reflective coating on both sides that ensures a clear view of the dial. It also looks elegant with the contrasting Laureus blue and rhodium-plated hands and appliques. The timepiece is self-winding with the 79350 automatic caliber, using the chronometer grade with 31 jewels. However, it has a 3-bar water resistance, which means it is not meant to wear when swimming, showering, or bathing. The IWC Portofino Chronograph 39 Edition is limited to 1000 pieces.
