Shinola has unveiled the new Shinola Monster GMT, dubbing it an evolution in the iconic series that started in the early 1950s. The company’s original GMT was a travel watch that combined three-hand local time and an arrow-tipped GMT hand that rotated once every 24-hours. Shinola says that over time, GMT watches became emblematic of precision watchmaking. Like its predecessors, the Monster GMT features complexity of movement and reliability, the crown jewel for a watchmaker. The Shinola Monster GMT features twenty-five jeweled bearings, a 48-hour time reserve, a traditional hour, minute, and second hand, and a Sellita SW330-2 Automatic GMT movement that tracks multiple time zones. There is also a GMT hand, set independently, rotating every 24 hours.

This impressive timepiece boasts a 40mm stainless steel case with a fully open case back to highlight the watch’s internal workings. The Monster GMT has a navy-blue ceramic bezel insert, is rated at 10 ATM, and has a screw-down crown. Additionally, Shinola says that its Monster GMT is their first stainless steel men’s bracelet featuring a quick release and swap with a G10 NATO-blue strap of upcycled ocean-bound plastic. Shinola provides metal packaging for the Monster GMT to protect the watch. The package also includes an in-depth booklet on tracking multiple time zones. The Shinola Monster GMT is available on the company website, with an estimated shipping date of June 1st.
