Only the people who really know their watches will know that Hermès is not just another fashion brand dipping its toes into the watch market to cash in on its name. In fact, this independent luxury house has come a long way from retailing and partnering with revered watch brands such as Jaeger-LeCoultre and Universal Geneve to developing its own incredible in-house movements, and even winning the 2015 Grand Prix D’Horlogerie de Genève. And with a few hundred years of design under its belt, you can be sure Hermès watches are packed with class, inside and out.
This year, the Slim d’Hermès line gets a GMT watch in its arsenal, simply named Slim d’Hermès GMT. The dials and subdials feature a mix of matte sandblasted and snailed finishes in a 39.5mm x 9.48mm palladium case, which houses the classic micro-rotor-powered Hermès caliber H1950 movement with a 42-hour power reserve. Dual time is expressed by the subdial on the 10 o’clock, with the unique scattered numerals in the same font as the main chapter ring, designed by Philippe Apeloig. The half-sandblasted and half-polished minute and hour hands are a nice touch, as are the day/night indicator apertures located above the Hermès logo, for both home and local times. Not to mention that, coming from Hermès, the alligator strap is likely the best in the world. The Slim d’Hermès GMT is limited to 90 pieces.
