GoWelding has packed a lot of metal-molding functionality into a platform about the size of a gaming desktop, and metal junkies are taking notice. The portable welder has 10x’ed its initial Kickstarter goal of $15,000 and still has 17 days left to go as of this writing.
Don’t be fooled by the wheels and luggage-style handlebar. This wee welder weighs in at over 40 lbs (20kg) and comes ready to handle everything from DIY and workshop welds to industrial applications thanks to 110V and 220V capability.
The 5-in-1 GoWelding supports MIG welding, cold welding, TIG welding, and stick welding for binding metals. Cuts are no problem, either – GoWelding’s plasma cutter packs enough juice to slice through half an inch (12.7mm) of steel. Its control panel features ten programmable presets to help users quickly switch between settings, making GoWelding handy for complex projects that call for different weld types.
The Kickstarter-discounted $499 price of admission nets backers a GoWelding unit, power adapter, two nozzle shields, a ground clamp, wire, tubes, and other consumables. Welding gloves, a foot pedal, and an auto-darkening welding helmet are also available at steep discounts to backers. Would-be welders need to move fast: only a handful remain at Kickstarter prices.
