Glashütte Original, known for its rich heritage in traditional Saxon watchmaking, unveils the latest addition to its esteemed Senator collection – the Senator Chronometer Tourbillon. This timepiece represents a captivating blend of precision engineering and contemporary design.

The Senator Chronometer Tourbillon features a flying tourbillon with stop-seconds, zero reset, and minute detent, all meticulously designed to achieve unparalleled accuracy when setting the time. This remarkable timepiece pays homage to Alfred Helwig, the inventor of flying tourbillons, with the addition of a braking device and a zero-reset mechanism.

One of the standout features of this watch is its day/night indicator, a departure from the ornate decorative flourishes of its predecessor. The off-centered hours and minutes dial at noon showcases an engraved globe, with the Sun and the Moon orbiting every 24 hours to provide a visual day/night indicator.

The watch’s aesthetic takes a contemporary turn with laser-engraved bridges and a raised Clous de Paris texture. The flying tourbillon, a mesmerizing spectacle, is visible through supporting columns, offering a close-up view of its intricate workings.

Under the hood, the manual-winding caliber 58-06 operates at 21,600vph, boasts a 70-hour power reserve, and features a silicon balance spring for protection against magnetic fields and temperature fluctuations. It’s also chronometer-certified by the Thuringian Weights and Measures Office.

Limited to just 50 pieces worldwide, the Glashütte Original Senator Chronometer Tourbillon is a true collector’s item, priced at $197,000. It will soon be available in Glashütte Original Boutiques, select retailers worldwide, and the brand’s website, offering enthusiasts a chance to own a piece of precision and elegance that transcends time.
