Named after Germany’s famous highway known for not having a speed limit, the Autobahn is NOMOS’s first auto-themed watch. The first thing you’ll notice is the semicircular lume pattern on the dial that looks like an analog speedometer on a gauge cluster of a classic race car. If that doesn’t scream “automotive,” we don’t know what will. But look closer — from the side, you’ll notice the concave dial and subdial that resemble the banking of a racetrack.
The Autobahn is not a “racing watch” per se, as it has neither a chronograph nor a tachymeter. But that is no surprise, coming from a brand of Bauhaus-inspired minimalist watches. What it is, though, is a “racing-inspired” minimalist watch that is quirky, professional, and full of character (just look at the unique date window). And it’s not just looks, either; sporting a new in-house DUW 6101 automatic caliber in a 41mm stainless steel case with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal and 100 meters of water resistance, the NOMOS Autobahn is ready for anything. The Autobahn is available in three variations and comes on a woven textile strap.
