Garmin has officially raised the bar in the smartwatch world with the upcoming launch of the fēnix 8 Pro MicroLED, a rugged flagship that also happens to be the first commercially available smartwatch to feature a MicroLED display. This breakthrough screen technology delivers a staggering 4,500 nits of brightness from 400,000 individual LEDs, giving users unmatched clarity, vivid colors, and wide-angle readability—even in harsh sunlight. For a category that thrives on durability and performance, Garmin has managed to inject true cutting-edge display tech without sacrificing its outdoor-first DNA.

The MicroLED edition of the fēnix 8 Pro features a 51mm case and offers up to 10 days of battery life on a single charge. Its sibling model trades the MicroLED for an AMOLED display, extending battery life to an impressive 27 days and offering size options of 47mm and 51mm. Both iterations feature Garmin’s inReach satellite technology, letting adventurers send messages, share locations, and trigger SOS alerts without needing a phone. Pair this with Garmin Pay, phone-free calling, weather updates, and all the advanced training metrics the brand is known for, and the result is an actual all-in-one survival and lifestyle watch.

At $2,000, the MicroLED edition tops the Fenix family in price, while the AMOLED model starts at $1,200, making this Garmin’s boldest release yet. Available September 8, 2025, the fēnix 8 Pro series confirms Garmin’s dominance as the go-to for athletes, adventurers, and anyone demanding a smartwatch that thrives where others fail.
