When one thinks of the state of Michigan, Mackinac Island might come to mind. A trip to the island is like stepping back in time. No cars are allowed, Victorian style housing is plentiful, and it exudes a Norman Rockwell charm. Firmly planted in the history of Michigan is Founders Brewing Company which will soon be releasing its newest Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) variant, Maple Mackinac Fudge Imperial Stout. This new version takes the chocolate flavor traditionally found in KBS to a whole new level.
Blending together Ferris Mackinac fudge coffee, maple syrup and a flavor blast of chocolate, the Founders Imperial Stout is then aged in oak bourbon barrels. The finished product is a bold new take on the original. This seasonal brew is only available October through December. Be sure to consume responsibly – with an ABV of 11 percent, it’s fitting that it was inspired by an island where no vehicles are allowed.
