It may sound like an unlikely combination — the Vans shoe company making footwear based on the work of Vincent Van Gogh? But rest assured that the Vans Van Gogh Collection epitomizes the ideal of an art/fashion collaboration done right. First of all, Vans partnered directly with the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam to create these sneakers. Secondly, the company is donating all proceeds from sales of its Van Gogh Collection to the furthering of Vincent Van Gogh’s legacy and the preservation of the art that he left behind.
The Collection consists of shoes, apparel, and accessories, each prominently featuring the motif of a different Van Gogh painting: Sunflowers, Skull, and Almond Blossom as well as Van Gogh’s famous 1889 Self Portrait. The collection will be available on August 3rd.
