Filson’s Workshop division—tucked just inside the brand’s Seattle Flagship—has become a kind of creative skunkworks for the company’s most compelling limited-run pieces. The latest release, the Filson Workshop Rugged Twill Backpack, is a perfect example of what happens when two master craftsmen are given access to rare materials and a mandate to build something exceptional.

Based on Filson’s bestselling backpack silhouette, this limited-edition upgrade is crafted from industrial-strength Rugged Twill in an exclusive Maple Bark Camo pattern developed in-house. The fabric is no ordinary canvas—its tear strength exceeds 1,400 pounds, and its dry-wax finish shrugs off rain, mud, and trail abuse. This is the last of this material, meaning once these bags are gone, they’re gone for good.
Filson reinforces the pack with Harness Leather straps, anchored by copper rivets—materials traditionally used for horse tack, chosen for their lifetime durability. A padded back panel enhances comfort, while the interior features a 15-inch laptop sleeve and pockets for daily essentials. Heavy-duty #10 YKK brass zippers seal the main and exterior compartments with the kind of satisfying robustness Filson has built its name on.
With a 23-liter capacity, the backpack strikes that sweet spot between everyday utility and rugged adventure readiness. Made in the USA and built from deadstock materials, this is Filson at its heritage-driven best: purposeful, tough, and built for decades of hard use.
