Ferrari has revived one of its most iconic names with the debut of the 2027 Ferrari 849 Testarossa, a cutting-edge plug-in hybrid supercar that replaces the SF90 Stradale. Available as both a coupe and a Spider, the new model blends heritage with futuristic engineering, producing a staggering 1,036 horsepower.

The “849” designation pays tribute to its twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8, which displaces 499 cc per cylinder. On its own, the V-8 generates 819 horsepower and 621 lb-ft of torque, while three electric motors add 217 horsepower, bringing total output past the four-digit mark. Ferrari claims a 0–62 mph time of 2.3 seconds and a 124 mph sprint in just 6.3 seconds, with torque vectoring and regenerative braking provided by the front motors. A 6.5-kWh battery pack enables up to 16 miles of electric-only driving at speeds of up to 81 mph.

Design-wise, the 849 Testarossa channels its namesake’s drama with XXL side intakes and a distinctive vertical band, while the twin-tail rear treatment incorporates a deployable spoiler for added downforce. At 171 mph, the car produces 915 pounds of aerodynamic grip, outpacing the SF90. The Spider variant features a retractable hardtop and a powered wind blocker, albeit with a modest weight penalty.

Inside, Ferrari emphasizes driver focus with a wraparound cockpit, raised gear selector, and infotainment integrated into the driver and passenger displays. An Assetto Fiorano track-focused variant cuts weight and sharpens handling with stiffer suspension and Michelin Cup2 tires. Deliveries of the coupe are expected to begin in mid-2026, with the Spider to follow later in the same year.
