In a market driven by the popularity of big, bold divers and pilot watches, it’s not unfair to call Farer’s release of a 36mm, Three Hand Collection something of a maverick move. But even then, the independent British watchmakers have essentially taken four of its most successful designs from its original 39mm Three Hand designs and shrunk the cases.
Not that we’re complaining: the Farer 36mm silhouette is a welcome return to the horological dynamics of the late twentieth century and a masterclass in both doing more with less and executing on fundamentals. Large, easy-to-read numerals feature prominently on the dial and connect nicely with the chunky hands.
Available with 4 different dials – Resolute White and Resolute Sorbet with large Arabic numerals framed by luminous SLN, luminous hands – Erebus Midnight with applied markers and numerals, and opened Syringe hands – Discovery Red with applied markers and numerals filled with luminous SLN, and luminous hands.
The Farer Three Hand Collection watches also feature 316L marine-grade stainless steel cases with a mix of brushed and polished features alongside an exhibition caseback that spotlights its La Joux-Perret G101 automatic caliber, which boasts a 68-hour power reserve – a rarity in this price range. Buyers can choose between a Barenia leather or rubber strap, a Granolo leather strap, or a Milanese bracelet. Expected to ship in early March, $995 puts one on your wrist.
