Best Off-The-Beaten-Path Men's Fragrances for Spring 2018
Go to Top

Spring is here. That means the cold has retreated (a little) and you have more freedom to express and exhibit your scent wardrobe. No need to yell — every subtle whisper can be heard. Spring scents, along with fall scents, are all about the nuanced expressions and balanced ensemble of notes. Due to their unobtrusive nature, spring and summer colognes are also excellent office scents that you can wear year round — all the more reason to find one that really matches your personality.

If you’re not feeling extremely experimental, this season’s popular choice picks are Burberry Touch for Men and Prada L’homme, both very understated and clean scents sure to please anyone. But on to the real reason we’re here — the obscure, hidden gems that will really make you stand out this season.

Bond No. 9 Bleecker Street

As a New York brand, Bond No. 9 fragrances are named after places or landmarks within New York. One of the more well known offerings from the house, Bleecker Street is a peculiar scent, one that is eccentric and casual at the same time. This well-balanced and unique blend of fresh greens, earthy woods, and blueberries somehow all work to make this a sporty, fresh, and pleasant scent.

L’Artisan Parfumeur Safran Troublant

As the name suggests, Safran Troublant (“troubling saffron”) gives you a complex saffron scent with sweet ginger, followed by vanilla, creamy rose, and sandalwood, reminiscent of a Middle Eastern or Indian dessert. This is a unisex scent that you can certainly share with a woman in your life.

Eau d’Italie Jardin du Poete

Meaning “garden of the poets,” this sophisticated woody aromatic blend takes you to a garden full of bitter orange, grapefruit, basil, cucumber, pepper, vetiver, and cypress. Green, watery, and refreshing, Jardin du Poete is perfect for when you want to bring that crisp spring morning with you wherever you go.

Creed Green Irish Tweed

We pondered long and hard whether or not putting Green Irish Tweed on this list was cheating. While it is a niche fragrance, Creed GIT is arguably too famous to be considered “off-the-beaten-path.” This old-timey fougere is manly and understated, with iris, lemon verbena, violet, sandalwood, and ambergris. Glorified? Overhyped? Maybe. But Green Irish Tweed is certainly considered the king of spring scents by many fragrance aficionados, and in the end we decided that it was too much of a classic that we couldn’t omit it.

That’s it for Spring 2018. Express your scent wardrobe while you can, because summer will soon roll around. But no worries, we’ll have you covered with a summer list when time comes. Happy smelling.
