The stuning Egyptian landscape sets the stage for the murder mystery unveiled in the Death on the Nile Official Trailer. Kenneth Branagh stars as detective Hercule Poirot, Agatha Christie’s heroic protagonist in this re-imagined vision of the British crime writer’s 1937 classic novel. Branagh follows in the footsteps of other legendary actors who have assumed the role; such as John Malkovich, Tony Randall, and Ian Holm. Branagh’s latest incarnation of Poirot is cast alongside a star-studded ensemble including Annette Bening, Gat Godot, Armie Hammer, and Russell Brand. Murder is afoot aboard the ship which was meant to carry them away from their worries, turning a vacation into a who-done-it so complex that only Poirot could solve it.
In addition to playing the film’s protagonist, Branagh directed Death on the Nile, following his 2017 Christie-inspired film Murder on the Orient Express. Branagh’s devotion to immortalizing the murder mysteries of Christie’s puts a modern spin on them which brings her work and Poirot’s literary legend to a whole new generation.
