The Creed III Final Trailer dropped today in advance of its March 3rd opening. Michael B. Jordan will make his directorial debut and will again play the role of Adonis Creed. Keenan Coogler and Zach Baylin write the franchise’s third installment. Reprising their roles from the previous Creed films include Wood Harris (The Wire) as Tony “Little Duke” Evers, Florian Munteanu (The Contractor) as Viktor Drago, Tony Bellew (Creed) as “Pretty” Ricky Conlan, and Phylicia Rashad (The Cosby Show) as Mary Anne Creed.
This third film finds Creed maintaining his dominance in the world of boxing. His career is thriving, and so is his family life. Enter Damian (Jonathan Majors), a former boxing prodigy and a childhood friend of Creed’s, who returns from a lengthy prison sentence during which time Adonis became a boxing world champion. Now a free man, Damian is going after Adonis and the life he believes Creed stole from him. Faced with few options, Adonis is forced out of retirement to settle his score with Damian inside the ring.
In a recent interview, Jordan says he thinks Creed III is the perfect film for his directorial debut because he has “a personal connection to it,” as it’s the only character he’s played three times in a row. Indeed, Jordan is more familiar with the character’s point of view than any other director would or could be. The opportunity gave this first-time director a way to take the franchise in a direction he envisions.
